Mashed

I'm no expert but some of them done well do taste very good but like anything fashionable there is a lot of dog piss out there calling itself craft...Brewdog comes under that umbrella even though it was one of the original trendy craft beers...

Craft beers are for people like Gavros.

Rather be seen drinking a jug of human piss and shit than Brew Dog Punk IPA.

Re: Gin & Tonic: a men's drink or women's drink?
In the US, craft beers are all the rage. I like the initiative but would prefer some adherence as to what actually constitutes beer.

For example, proper beer should not be served with an orange slice, nor should it be described as having 'citrus notes'. Furthermore, it should not be purple with a bubbly white head and taste like the stuff you put down the sink to unblock it.

Beer should be hoppy, orangey brown and chilly, and in conjunction with or without a curry, make you fart for a very long time.

Long live Marston's, Bass, Youngs, Fullers and Greene King. I went into the Lamb in Leadenhall Market in August and the barman had to ask what a pint of mixed was. Country, dogs, gone to.

Re: Gin & Tonic: a men's drink or women's drink?
The real ale/beer comeback has been a very welcome thing but I find that certain types of craft beer - especially the ones with the more experimental flavours tend to lead to some spectacular, industrial strength farting on an epic scale...

On another occasion I had some really strong oatmeal imperial stout and had the runs so bad that when I got home the only option was to stand in the shower till it passed...

Champagne, mate.......surly the respectable drink of choice a 10am in the Upper Class lounge with a cooked breakfast. Keep going, once airborne.

Never mind Double Diamond. What you want is Watney's Party Seven.

When one is soaring overhead, sat away from the riff raff in steerage, it's definitely my tipple of choice.

Being a drayman at a brewery was regarded as one of "the" jobs in the trade. The perks were unbelievable - I think they got (the equivalent of) a grate of ale a day, gratis. Many drunk it, many others sold it on.

One of my uncles was a dray manager for Youngs. He'd regularly bring over a couple of barrels of beer to my father's house in Chadwell Heath.

Of course, we'd party. The free beer made me one of the mos popular kids in the 5th form at school, and that carried over into my apprenticeship.

Never got any free gin though, but I do like a giood G&T

Re: Gin & Tonic: a men's drink or women's drink?
I used to drink Lowenbrau when I worked in Romford Brewery. If it wasn't available, young Guinness. Swerved Double Diamond like the plague.

One year, they had Lowenbrau Gold, but very little circulated in the factory. Never got to try it.

They used to have this policy of officially banning drinking at work while unofficially encouraging it. Couldn't figure out why, but didn't put much effort into doing so (too busy taking full advantage of the policy).

Found out later, after I'd left, that they had sacked a bloke they regarded as a trouble-maker for being pissed at work...
